Þórr and The Oak Men

I made this video back in 2017 and it is still one of the best videos on my channel. Although YouTube have censored it (partially) in some some countries in Europe and some parts of the world (including the US) for reasons I still don’t know fully which leaves me in bewilderment, but whatever. Here I read a segment from Thomas Sheridan’s amazing book regarding the magic rituals and symbolic worship and the esoteric and exoteric aspect of the Oak. Both as physical and as well as a metaphysical sacred part of nature. The Druids worshipped The Oak, and The Mistletoe was belived to have a deeply spiritual elemental magical power. Our forebears understood very well these things and the underlying importance of Ritual and Magic. Even the very name “Druid” can be translated along the lines of “Wise Oak”.

I made my way to Yggdrasill, then through the bridges/passageways to Jötunheimr. I met with a Dragon, she had made herself known to me before, and called herself “Tiamat”. (In the Enûma Elish, the Babylonian epic of creation, Tiamat bears the first generation of deities). My Fylgja and I were together with her in Jötunheimr, waiting, trying to understand how to proceed. There were huge forces in the sky, totally incomprehensible to grasp and impossible to describe.

This journey came upon me at the completion of another Runic journey. I thought I was returning to my body, when I heard a woman’s voice from the sky calling for me to follow her. I felt crabby and didn’t want to, so I was kind of putzing around. She said, “Get up boy and follow me now!” I rapidly rose into the winds through my portal. I was shifting rapidly from moment to moment – quick, windy, jerking shifts, then after moments of trying to adjust or keep up with this, I found myself perched on a bluff overlooking the “Blue Stream” River. She said, “your beloved river.” (I knew this to be the south-western portion of the River that I love & have spent much time camping/sitting along the shore there) I dove down into the water and sank, sank slowly to lay at the bottom.

This ”Rune Quest” is my contribution to the evolution of the sacred Norse Runic Tradtion. There are plenty of excellent books and sources to consult and explore defining the ”ground tone” or core meaning of all 24 staves of the Elder Futhark. If that is what you’re looking for you might want to seek another website or source. For this “Quest” I am going to offer information/insights from my own experiences with folk magic through Seiðr work and other methods. These descriptions then will hold a kenning not immediately evident to the ground tone of each rune, giving depth and scope to the understanding of the stave. 

While the deepest parts of my magickal workings with the Runes are too personal to share (and entirely impossible to convey using word language alone) I feel these journeys may communicate what is worthy to each rune-worker drawn to them. 

Wardruna – Live in Plovdiv, Bulgaria at the Ancient Roman Theater of Philippopolis 09/07/2022

The experience was simply otherworldly, memorable and musically and visually awe-inspiring. I went to see Wardruna live for the second time (first time they played here was in 2016 in Sofia), but this concert was nothing I've ever experienced in my entire life. I've been to quite a few concerts, but no band or musician can be compared to the type of live ritual Einar and his fellow musicians performed there (and perhaps comparisons are not needed here). Everyone who was present at the Ancient Theater (Philippopolis) in Plovdiv felt it and it was more akin to a Heathen ritual of olden days than just simply a live show performed by a folk band from Norway. Wardruna are obviously more than just a folk band from Norway, and what I truly, truly realized while being there surrounded by hundreds of people, was that their main reason and purpose in this existence to play live and perhaps to create music as well is to actually HEAL the damaged soul of humanity and to feed it and charge it with magic, meaning, wellness, purpose and respect for the old ways, but not trying to copy the past (like Einar often says) and roleplay our lives so very fucking hard to be Vikings, warriors or LARPERS and what not. It's not about dressing up and showing off your ego. Historical reenactment is fine and cool, but in it's core it's all about remembering and giving the needed respect to nature, to the gods and goddesses and to the spirits and the ancestors. That is why we need to implement sooooo very bad the Animistic way of thinking and to act upon it., not just speak and write about it. Wardruna's artistic philosophy and music is obviously a very welcomed medicine, very important and profoundly honest and authentic. It's the type of pill we need for these troubling times and not some bullshit conspiratorial hipster wokeness. Yes Ragnarök is upon us, but it's not the end of life or the world. This is a very commnon misconception seen through the (mostly) Christian point of view about life and death. It's the end of a cycle so that a new can begin and continue. So, not much else to say here folks, but I truly speak in the most honest and heartfelt way I can. I recorded these videos to remember what I have experienced and to also remember that these themes are universal and they speak to us through the music of Wardruna and they will continue to speak to generations to come as long as the traditions, the old ways and beliefs and the authenticity are kept alive. I enjoyed the concert so very much and I will remember it for the rest of my life, and so you may enjoy these songs as well. These are spells given to us to heal the land and our spirits. They are gifts most precious. Thank you Wardruna from the bottom of my Pagan heart and thanks to all the people who organized this amazing event and made this magical experience possible.
